There are quite a few ideas that I might like to touch on about Brave New World... I keep obtaining more as I read as well. So, my decision on what I will write about will most likely change at the very least three times before I'm finished with the book...
One aspect of the novel that I find very interesting is the whole idea of their "religion". The After Ford thing is very creative and ties into the theme of the book very well. I would probably discuss what role religion plays in the society of today and how that compares to the so called "religion" in the Brave New World society. I would also like to expand on how the religion of the savages compares to both of these other kinds of religions. In some ways, they are all very similar, but I feel they have unique traits as well.
Another idea I find intriguing is the situation of being born into a society. The difference between some of the characters is astounding and a lot of it has to do with the environment that they grew up in. These kinds of studies can help to analyze why poeple do the things they do. To me, I think a person's environment has everything to do with the kind of person they become.
I also could discuss the different ideas of "love" that this novel and the 1984 novel portrays. They have similar motives for doing what they do, but they both go about it in such different ways from each other. I find it really interesting.
So, here are a few of my ideas that I might use for writing my essay. This book is full of all sorts of inner themes, that it will be hard to choose one. Like I said, I will most likely change my mind more than a ridiculous amout...

Alright first one to comment on your blog hahaha
ReplyDeleteI really like the ideas you are trying to explore in your essay. I agree with you the inner themes in this book just keep on appearing as you read. So it would be kinda hard to include all of them in an organized essay that won't go over ten pages. Crazy stuff lol. Also, I like the idea about including the realtionship between the "love" shown in BNW and in 1984. It is a good way to include 1984. I had not thought about the "religion" of the savages and how it can be compared to today's religion, I found this really interesting. I don't know why I didn't think about it myself lol.
With this ideas that you have to play with here, I think you will come up with a great and interesting essay.
Can't wait to read your essay girl!
Hm, very interesting ideas! You're right, I see some similarities between our focuses, however your latching onto the themes of love and relgion are two things I hadn't even considered writing about. I would love to hear your hypothesies on those topics, but I'm sure that whatever you chose to write about will be thought-provoking and captivating (it always is ;] ).
ReplyDelete"Love". Huh.
